Fight Misinformation about Off-shore Wind Power with these Links

There is a lot of misinformation about the impact of off-shore wind power on the health and safety of marine mammals. The recent slew of whale deaths on the New Jersey Shore has been hypocritically used by fossil fuel interests to try to kill the off-shore wind power industry in New Jersey.

Use these links for information based on science on the impact of off-shore wind power on marine environment.

STOP LYING ABOUT WHALE DEATHS!

Abortion is still Legal in NJ — For Now

Here in NJ, abortion remains legal, but that might not always be the case.

Already, Republicans are pushing for a nationwide ban on abortion that would supersede state law and put lives at risk right here in our backyard.

It's not just abortion that is at stake–it's same-sex relationships and same-sex marriage. It's the right to contraception. All of these hard-fought rights–and many others–are at stake.

There are several things we can do RIGHT NOW to ensure that abortion in NJ remains safe and legal.

Firstly, it is key that Democrats maintain control of Congress. Sign up here to volunteer to help pro-choice Democrats win. If we lose Congress, we stand to lose everything.

Second, donate directly to abortion funds that help ensure access to safe abortions.

Thirdly, call your legislators and tell them where you stand. They need to hear from YOU. Find your state legislator here.

Finally, make sure to breathe. We are in for a long fight, and we need to stay strong and focused to combat Republicans who aim to send us back to the 1950s. Take a breath but keep fighting.

Together, we can stop Republicans in their tracks.

In solidarity,

The NJDSC Team

"Freeholder" to become "County Commissioner"

Governor Phil Murphy today signed legislation (S855), which requires the title of “chosen freeholder” to be changed to “county commissioner” and all “boards of chosen freeholders” to be known as “boards of county commissioners.” The bill also requires counties to update their letterheads, stationary, and other writings, as well as their websites, to bear the title of county commissioners in place of freeholders or chosen freeholders within one year of the bill’s effective date, January 1, 2021.

The bill would not require counties to update or replace signs or other writings to reflect this title change within this timeframe if doing so would require the expenditure of county funds. In these cases, the title would be changed whenever the writing is next updated or replaced in the ordinary course of business.

Is Your VOTE Safe?

Many experts agree, NJ needs new voting machines, and many voters continue to turn to Vote by Mail ballots to ensure their vote is accurately counted. Here in Monmouth County, when our Superintendent of Elections, Mary C. DeSarno, was asked about what was being done or if there are plans to purchase new, paper-verified voting machines like in Union and Warren Counties, she responded that the County is thinking about this, watching how other counties are progressing, and looking into state certified machines as well as funding for these costly machine.

What can we do to help?
